Sports & Activities:
Sport		Extra-curricular Activities

All the children participate in a wide range of sports which challenge them both as individuals and as part of a team. Team sports include rugby, football, hockey, cricket and rounders. Individual pursuits include tennis, dance, swimming, cross country and athletics. All sports are taught by a qualified physical education teacher with support from other professionally qualified and experienced coaches and teachers. Our excellent sports facilities include a gymnasium with sprung wooden floor, tennis court/hard play area, extensive playing fields, adventure playground and low ropes course. Within the school the children compete as teams and as individuals in inter-house competitions. The results of the competitions are recorded and used to decide the winners of the Inter House Trophy at Sports Day in the Summer Term. The children also participate in competitions against other local schools and many individuals have competed successfully at county level.		Individual music lessons are organised for any child wishing to take up a musical instrument. Teachers are provided through the Dorset Music Service. A number of extra-curricular activities can be enjoyed. Current activities include: Individual Music Lessons Kayaking Archery Fishing Singing

Visits		School Performances

Every term each class goes on a visit to experience something that will enhance their curriculum learning. There are also residential trips twice a year. In addition there are residential trips which venture slightly further afield. These have included trips to France and Cairo! Some trips are only open to the older children.		Throughout the year we hold a number of performances. Every term, parents are invited to join us for a Parents Assembly. The performance may include pieces learnt in Speech & Drama, musical performances from individuals as well as the school orchestra, singing by the choir as well as dramatic sketches and illustrations of the theme of the Assembly. The children also perform a play or a musical at Christmas and at the end of the Summer Term. The Christmas performance is held in the School Gymnasium and, weather permitting, the summer performance is held on the lawn in front of the Court. Both of these are full theatrical extravaganzas with all of the children dressed up, made up and ready to take to the floor!
